about us
The East Village’s residential blocks run from the classic walk-ups of Avenue A to the newer construction near Third Avenue, housing a mix of long-term renters, co-op owners, and Airbnb hosts who cycle through frequently. Cleaning Chief has cleaned East Village apartments since 2020 — standard visits, deep cleans, and turnover cleans for short-term rentals. Same background-checked crew each time, flat rates, booking in minutes.

We use EPA Safer Choice products for kitchens, bathrooms, and floors.
Every service has a published flat rate. No hourly meter. You see the exact number before you book.

Our teams cover East Village on the same schedule we run across Manhattan. Weekly maintenance, deep cleans, move-in and move-out turnovers, post-renovation cleanup, carpet and couch care, tile and grout work, floor buffing, window washing, and Airbnb turnovers are on our published flat-rate card. For asthma-sensitive homes we follow American Lung Association guidance on cleaning products and indoor air.
Pricing is flat. The number you see online is the number on your invoice. If your building has specific access rules, elevator windows, service-entrance requirements, or Certificate of Insurance filings, tell us when you book and we’ll plan around it.

The East Village runs on walk-ups. Long blocks of five-story tenements line Avenue A, First Avenue and the cross streets between them, and most have no elevator. Crews carry vacuums, buckets and mops up steep stairs, and the building often decides how long a visit takes before the apartment does. Narrow hallways, uneven treads and tight doorways are normal here, and experienced crews plan their equipment around them.
The apartments are small and old. Many still show their tenement bones: railroad layouts, kitchens that double as hallways and, in some older units, a bathtub in the kitchen. Walls have been repainted many times, floors have settled, and radiators, pipes and window frames collect grime in corners that newer buildings simply do not have. A one-bedroom here has less floor area than a comparable unit uptown, yet it can take just as long because of the detail work.
Tompkins Square Park sits at the center of the neighborhood, and the blocks around it stay lively well past midnight. Bars, music venues and late restaurants along Avenue A and Second Avenue mean many residents keep late schedules and sleep in. Morning appointments are often too early, so afternoon slots are popular. Street-facing windows near the park and the main avenues pick up more grime than those on quiet cross streets, and the film builds faster in summer when windows stay open.
The East Village mixes generations of long-term tenants, co-op owners who bought decades ago and a large short-term rental market. Turnover cleans are common, usually on tight check-out windows, in units that get heavy use and little downtime. Longtime residents, meanwhile, often prefer the same person every visit, someone who knows where the key goes and which shelf holds the good dishes.
Both groups benefit from a steady routine: the same crew, the same checklist and a schedule that fits the building. Dogs are everywhere on the blocks around the park, and hair, dander and tracked-in dirt collect fast in small apartments, so regular vacuuming and pet-friendly products carry extra weight in recurring plans.
