Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions
Effective date: April 28, 2026
At a glance
These Terms are the contract between you and Cleaning Chief NYC Inc. when you book a cleaning service. The short version:
- What we do: residential, commercial, and Airbnb cleaning across NYC and parts of New Jersey, plus deep cleaning, post-construction, move-in/move-out, eco options, laundry, event, and carpet/upholstery services.
- What you bring: access to the property, secured pets, and a vacuum (or add Vacuum Delivery to your booking — $50–$150 depending on the equipment we send). We bring everything else.
- Payment: full upfront for one-time services; non-refundable 50% deposit for high-value, specialty, commercial, and Airbnb work; recurring services billed on completion. Late fees 1.5% per month after 7 days. NYC sales tax (8.875%) is itemized on your invoice.
- If something’s wrong: notify us within 24 hours with photo or video, and we’ll re-clean within 48 hours at no charge. The 24-hour rule lets us assess and re-clean while we can still verify the work — see §6.
- Cancellations: see our Cancellation Policy. Once a cleaning professional has been dispatched, the full fee applies. Deposits are non-refundable on customer cancellations.
- Solicitation: please don’t engage our cleaning professionals outside of a Cleaning Chief booking. We invest substantially in recruiting, training, vetting, and equipping our team. Direct engagement triggers a $25,000 placement fee — explained in §10.
- Disputes: binding individual arbitration in New York. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of your first booking — see §13.
- Changes to these Terms: we give 30 days’ notice for material changes — see §15.
The full Terms are below.
1. Scope of services
Cleaning Chief NYC Inc. (“Cleaning Chief,” “we,” “us”) provides the following services across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and parts of New Jersey:
- Residential maid service (one-time and recurring)
- Commercial cleaning (offices, medical, co-working, retail)
- Airbnb and short-term rental turnover
- Deep cleaning
- Move-in / move-out cleaning
- Post-construction cleaning
- Optional eco-friendly cleaning (biodegradable / EPA Safer Choice products available on request — specific product list provided at booking)
- Laundry services
- Event cleaning
- Carpet and upholstery services
The specific scope of any booking is described in your quote and confirmation email. If you ask for tasks outside the scope of the booked service, our cleaning professional may decline or quote an additional fee on the spot.
2. Supplies and equipment
What we bring as standard. Cleaning Chief provides cleaning agents, microfiber cloths, sponges, gloves, mops and buckets, toilet brushes (we never reuse a client’s), a step stool for normal-height tasks, and any specialty products required for the service you’ve booked.
What you provide by default. We ask you to provide a working vacuum. Our crews do not travel with a vacuum as a standard practice. If you don’t have a vacuum or prefer not to provide one, you can add Vacuum Delivery to your booking — see §3.
Client-supplied products. If you’d like us to use your own products (allergies, surface protection, eco preferences beyond our standard line, or any other reason), let us know at booking. We’ll use the products you supply at your direction. We can’t guarantee results with client-supplied products and we don’t accept liability for adverse reactions to them.
3. Vacuum Delivery (optional add-on)
If you don’t have a vacuum, or you want us to bring our own equipment, you can add Vacuum Delivery to your booking. The fee depends on what we send:
|
Tier |

The exact fee is disclosed at booking and depends on your service location, the equipment selected, and tolls or parking specific to the address. Vacuum Delivery is a paid add-on on top of your service fee and is itemized separately on your invoice.
4. Payment
One-time services. Full payment at booking, billed to the payment method on file.
High-value, specialty, commercial, and Airbnb services. A non-refundable 50% deposit is required at booking. The balance is billed on completion. The deposit is forfeited if you cancel, regardless of the reason for cancellation. The deposit is fully refunded only if Cleaning Chief cancels or fails to perform. This term is disclosed at booking, on your receipt, on the Cancellation Policy page, and confirmed by a checkbox at checkout.
Recurring services. Weekly, biweekly, and monthly residential or commercial services are billed on completion of each service.
Subscription program. See our Subscription Policy.
Late payment. A late fee of 1.5% per month accrues on amounts unpaid more than 7 days past the invoice date.
Sales tax. Quoted prices exclude applicable New York State and New York City sales tax (currently 8.875%). Tax is itemized on your invoice.
Tipping. Tips are optional and never expected. If you choose to tip, 100% goes to your cleaning professional. You can add a tip at checkout or in cash.
5. Client obligations
You agree to:
- Provide safe and lawful access to the property at the scheduled time.
- Secure pets in a separate room or area.
- Disclose hazards (mold, pests, biohazards, hazardous materials, broken glass, etc.) before service. We may decline service or charge an additional fee if hazards are present and were not disclosed.
- Pre-clean to a basic level — declutter and remove personal items from surfaces we’ll be cleaning. We’ll move standard items to clean under them, but we won’t pack up your belongings.
- Confirm key, lockbox, or access codes in writing before the appointment if we won’t be greeted in person. We protect access codes the same way we protect any sensitive information (see Privacy Policy §6), but we are not responsible for codes you’ve also shared with others.
6. Service guarantee, complaints, and the 24-hour photo/video rule
We back our work with a re-clean guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with the cleaning, notify us within 24 hours of service completion and include photo or video of the affected areas. We’ll return within 48 hours of notification to re-clean those areas at no charge, scheduling permitting, or at the next mutually available time.
Why the 24-hour rule. Cleaning is time-sensitive. Within 24 hours we can verify the original work, distinguish what we did from what’s happened in the property since (cooking, foot traffic, pets, dust), and re-clean while the area still reflects its as-cleaned state. After 24 hours, normal use of the space makes it impossible to fairly assess what was missed at the time of cleaning. Photos or video at the time you notify us are how we verify the issue and dispatch the right re-clean.
What happens after 24 hours. Complaints filed more than 24 hours after service completion, or without photo or video evidence, are not eligible for a re-clean under this guarantee. We may still address them as a courtesy depending on the circumstances, but it is at our discretion and not a contractual right.
How to notify us. Email info@cleaningchief.com, call (332) 232-3422, or reply to your booking confirmation text. Include the booking date and photos or video of the area.
7. In-home conduct, valuables, and recording
Vetted independent contractors. All cleaning professionals working with Cleaning Chief are independent contractors who have completed our vetting and onboarding process. We carry general liability insurance and a janitorial bond on the cleaning operation; certificates of insurance are available on request for commercial clients.
No recording by our professionals. Cleaning Chief professionals do not record audio or video inside your home or business. If you operate cameras or microphones in the space, please let us know — out of courtesy, and so the professional knows the space is being recorded.
Valuables. We recommend securing cash, jewelry, and small valuables before service. We treat your property with care, but we don’t recommend leaving valuables unsecured during any service visit.
Keys and access codes. When you give us a key or access code, we treat it as confidential. We don’t share access information beyond the cleaning professional assigned to your service. If a key in our custody is lost during a service, we’ll cover the cost of rekeying the affected lock up to a reasonable limit (typically $250); you can request a higher limit at booking for buildings where rekeying is more involved.
8. Independent contractors
The cleaning professionals who perform your service are independent contractors, not employees of Cleaning Chief. Cleaning Chief vets, trains, dispatches, and pays them; they retain control over how they perform their work consistent with our service standards.
9. Limitation of liability
Cleaning Chief’s total liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount paid for the service giving rise to the claim, or (b) two times the most recent monthly invoice for subscribers.
We are not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages.
- Damage to items left in fragile or unsecured condition that a reasonable cleaning professional would not foresee.
- Theft, except where shown to be the act of a Cleaning Chief professional during the service window (in which case our bond and claims process applies).
- Personal injury, except where caused by Cleaning Chief’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
- Acts or omissions of third parties (building staff, other vendors, deliveries) not under our control.
- Force majeure events: acts of God, government action, public-health emergencies, civil unrest, public-transit shutdowns, severe weather, fire, or similar events outside our reasonable control.
This section does not limit any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Non-solicitation of cleaning professionals
Cleaning Chief invests substantially in recruiting, vetting, training, insuring, equipping, and dispatching our cleaning professionals. These investments are not visible at the point of service but are real and ongoing.
The clause. During your engagement with Cleaning Chief and for eighteen (18) months after the last service performed for you by a given cleaning professional, you agree not to engage that professional directly — for cleaning services or any related service — outside of a Cleaning Chief booking.
Placement fee. If you engage a Cleaning Chief professional in violation of the above, you agree to pay Cleaning Chief a placement fee of $25,000. The parties agree this fee represents a reasonable pre-estimate of (a) Cleaning Chief’s recruitment, training, vetting, insurance enrollment, equipping, and onboarding costs for that professional, (b) lost margin on bookings the professional would otherwise have completed under Cleaning Chief during the eighteen-month restriction period, and (c) replacement and reputational costs. The parties further acknowledge that Cleaning Chief’s documented investment in each cleaning professional, plus expected lost-margin contribution over the restriction period, is reasonably proportionate to and is anticipated to exceed this amount, and that the actual harm in any specific instance is difficult to calculate precisely. The fee is a placement fee tied to actual harm; it is not a penalty.
Approved channels. If you’d like to work with a specific cleaning professional outside the standard booking flow, contact us at info@cleaningchief.com — we may be able to accommodate through a direct-hire transition program or a partnership arrangement.
Referrals welcome. This clause does not restrict you from referring new customers to Cleaning Chief. Property managers, real-estate agents, building staff, Airbnb hosts, and other partners are encouraged to refer business; ask about our paid referral program at partnerships@cleaningchief.com.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate the engagement on seven (7) days’ written notice.
Cleaning Chief may terminate immediately if:
- You fail to pay an invoice within 30 days of the due date.
- You materially breach these Terms.
- A cleaning professional reports unsafe working conditions at the property.
- We reasonably believe the engagement creates legal, safety, or reputational risk.
Termination by either party does not affect amounts owed for services performed before termination, or deposits that are non-refundable under these Terms or our Cancellation Policy.
12. Cancellation Policy
The full cancellation rules are in our Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In short:
- Residential: 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee.
- Commercial / Airbnb: 72 hours’ notice.
- Same-day cancellations after a cleaning professional has been dispatched: 100% of the service fee.
- Day-before cancellations: 50%. Two-days-before: 25%.
- Deposits on specialty, commercial, and Airbnb services are non-refundable on customer cancellation.
The Cancellation Policy is the controlling document if anything in this summary differs from the full text there.
13. Dispute resolution
Informal first. If you have a dispute, please email legal@cleaningchief.com with a clear description. We commit to responding within 30 days and trying to resolve it informally.
Mediation, then arbitration. If informal resolution doesn’t work, the parties agree to mediation through a New York-based mediator. If mediation doesn’t resolve the dispute within 60 days, the dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under the Consumer Arbitration Rules, in New York County, New York. The arbitrator’s award is final and enforceable.
Small claims carve-out. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitration.
Arbitration opt-out (30 days). You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@cleaningchief.com within 30 days of your first booking with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out.” Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
Class and mass action waiver. Disputes will be brought individually. The parties waive class actions, class arbitrations, and any consolidation of more than 25 individual arbitrations except as required by the AAA’s procedural rules. If any part of this waiver is unenforceable, the unenforceable part is severed and the rest of this section remains in force.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
14. Accessibility
Cleaning Chief is committed to accessibility, both on our website and in how we deliver service. We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA conformance on our website. If you need an accommodation to access our services or website, contact accessibility@cleaningchief.com or (332) 232-3422.
15. Changes to these Terms
We update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent update.
For material changes — changes that affect your rights or obligations in a meaningful way — we will give you at least 30 days’ prior notice by email and through a banner on our website. If you do not agree to the material changes, you should stop booking before the effective date; bookings made after that date are governed by the updated Terms.
For non-material changes (clarifications, formatting, contact-information updates), the change takes effect when the updated Terms are posted.
We will keep prior versions available on request.
16. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, Cancellation Policy, and (for subscribers) the Subscription Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Cleaning Chief.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remain in force.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. Cleaning Chief may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Notices. Notices to you may be sent to the email or address on your account. Notices to Cleaning Chief should be sent to legal@cleaningchief.com or 608 W 138th St, New York, NY 10031.
