about us
Chinatown’s tenement blocks around Mott, Mulberry and Bayard Streets house multigenerational families, longtime renters and newer residents in condos along the Bowery, all living above some of the busiest markets and restaurants in the city. Cleaning Chief has served Manhattan since 2020, and Chinatown is on our regular route. Same crew, flat rate, no fine print.
Every cleaner is background-checked, insured and trained
We use EPA Safer Choice products for kitchens, bathrooms, and floors.
Every service has a published flat rate. No hourly meter. You see the exact number before you book.

Our teams cover Chinatown on the same schedule we run across Manhattan. Weekly maintenance, deep cleans, move-in and move-out turnovers, post-renovation cleanup, carpet and couch care, tile and grout work, floor buffing, window washing, and Airbnb turnovers are on our published flat-rate card. For asthma-sensitive homes we follow American Lung Association guidance on cleaning products and indoor air.
Pricing is flat. The number you see online is the number on your invoice. If your building has specific access rules, elevator windows, service-entrance requirements, or Certificate of Insurance filings, tell us when you book and we’ll plan around it.

Chinatown is a neighborhood where the ground floor does most of the talking. Five- and six-story tenements along Mott, Mulberry, Bayard and Grand Streets hold produce stands, bakeries, herbal shops and restaurants below, with apartments stacked above them. The sounds and smells of a working street rise along with the families who live there. Deliveries start early, crates and carts crowd the sidewalks by mid-morning, and cooking steam from neighboring kitchens settles on windows and stairwell walls.
Those buildings shape the work. Stairwells are narrow and steep, hallways are shared, and most walk-ups have no elevator. Crews carry equipment up on foot and plan the visit around the building as much as the square footage. Kitchen surfaces, range hoods and vent covers collect more residue here than in many Manhattan apartments, so grease removal takes a bigger share of a standard visit. Steam from crowded kitchens also encourages mildew in bathrooms and window frames, which is another reason regular visits beat occasional ones.
Chinatown has more multigenerational households than most Manhattan neighborhoods. Grandparents, parents and children often share a two-bedroom, and every room does double duty as a living space, a study and a place to eat. More people at home through the day means more wear on floors, more laundry and more cooking, and weekly service tends to hold up better than a two-week gap. Smaller apartments also fill up fast, so the details that matter most are the ones used daily: the stovetop, the bathroom and the entryway where shoes pile up.
Many households clean thoroughly before Lunar New Year to start the year with a fresh space, and that tradition fits a deep clean well. Cabinets, the inside of the refrigerator, window tracks, baseboards and the tops of shelves get done in one pass instead of spread across weeks. Lunar New Year lands between late January and mid-February, so planning a few weeks ahead keeps the preferred day open. Newer condos around the edges of the neighborhood, near the Bowery and the bridges, follow a different pattern, with doormen, elevators and more standard access. A crew can move from a walk-up to a tower in a single morning.
